About ratings & review sources

ReviewMyMover is dedicated exclusively to the moving industry: moving businesses operating as carriers, brokers, or both. We collect reviews about moving companies and moving services only, including moving-company reviews hosted on general review platforms. We do not collect unrelated business or product reviews. “Rating” combines the listed external snapshots with reviews posted here, weighted by review count. Rounded source scores make the combined figure approximate. Coverage is limited to the sources shown. Aggregator totals are counted once. The displayed rating and total review count include both collected source ratings and reviews posted on this site. External ratings are dated snapshots. Selected excerpts are attributed to their original source. No live synchronization or verification by ReviewMyMover is implied.

Find your fit

Save movers for later or compare up to three side by side.

Know who is handling your move

Carrier or broker: know the role.

Understand who arranges the move, who transports your belongings, and who to contact when you need help.

CARRIER

The company transporting your move.

A carrier performs the transportation and takes responsibility for the shipment under your moving contract. It may work with agents or participating carriers.

Before you book, ask:

  • Who will handle pickup, transport, and delivery?
  • Is the carrier’s operating authority appropriate for my move?
  • Who handles delivery updates and claims?
BROKER

The company arranging your move.

A broker arranges the move with a separate moving company. The broker does not transport your belongings. Confirm who will perform the actual services.

Before you book, ask:

  • What is the transporting carrier’s name and USDOT number?
  • Which broker fees and carrier charges are included?
  • Who provides the written estimate and claims contact?
Some companies hold both registrations.

A carrier and broker may perform either role. Ask which applies to your booking and which company will transport your shipment. Registration type alone is not a guarantee of price or service quality.

Look beyond the stars

What makes us different from other moving review sites?

Some moving directories offer monthly subscriptions and paid featured placements. That can influence which companies you see first. A prominent position or a high star rating, by itself, does not tell you who will move your belongings or whether their interstate authority is current.

We put more context alongside the reviews, so you can ask better questions before you book. ReviewMyMover is dedicated exclusively to the moving industry: moving businesses operating as carriers, brokers, or both. We collect reviews about moving companies and moving services only, including moving-company reviews hosted on general review platforms. We do not collect unrelated business or product reviews.

Know who you’re hiring

Carrier, broker, and dual-authority labels reflect the matched FMCSA SAFER record. See who transports belongings and who arranges the move.

See the authority status

Company profiles show the matched USDOT number, operating authority, and date checked. Registration type and authorization status are shown separately.

Understand the review sources

Snapshots cover moving-company experiences only. Collected platform totals and eligible website reviews are combined by review count, without recounting snapshots already included in a source total.

Look at the whole experience

Read praise and concerns, report questionable reviews, and compare companies. Our review summaries highlight patterns rather than treating a star rating as a guarantee.

Accreditation, advertising, and reviews measure different things.

BBB: the seal is paid; the grade is separate

BBB charges businesses an accreditation fee and requires them to meet its standards. Accreditation is a paid business credential, while the A+–F letter grade and customer star rating are separate measures. An accreditation seal should not be read as a promise that customers consistently report positive moving experiences.

BBB does not include customer reviews in its letter-grade calculation. Its grade considers factors such as complaint history, responses to complaints, transparency, time in business, and licensing information. A company can therefore have poor customer stars alongside an A+ grade. The grade does not tell you the average rating customers gave their moves.

What this means for your move: Look beyond the seal. Read the specific experiences, compare feedback across platforms, and match the legal entity and USDOT number to the company handling your belongings. Check current authority and written terms before booking; a strong grade is not a guarantee of service quality.

Yelp: unclaimed pages and paid visibility

A business listing may exist without the owner creating it. Owners may then have to claim the page, correct information, or dispute reviews they believe are false. Publicly available company details and a listing’s claimed status should never be treated as proof of identity, service quality, or moving authority.

Yelp offers free listings and paid advertising designed to generate visibility and customer leads. Paid placement buys exposure; it is not proof of service quality. A USDOT number, legal name, address, or public contact name should be cross-checked rather than treated as authentication by itself.

What this means for your move: Don’t rely on a claimed badge, an ad, or a disputed review alone. Match the legal entity and USDOT number to the actual transporting company, check current authority, and read experiences across sources. Owners can report impersonation or disputed content, but removal should not be assumed.

Sources: BBB rating and accreditation policies; Yelp business-page and advertising guidance. Review platforms use different rules; always read the underlying customer experiences and current registration information.

Our listing standards

How do companies get on our website?

Moving carriers and brokers can apply by completing our Register your company form. Here’s how our listing policy works.

01 · APPLY

Register your company

Submit your company details and registration numbers. At the time of registration, we check that the business has the appropriate active FMCSA operating authority before approving its application.

Register your company →
02 · STAY AUTHORIZED

Authorization matters

If we identify that a listed company’s FMCSA operating authority is no longer active, our policy is to display an alert on its profile. The company has 90 days from that status being identified to restore its active authority before its listing is removed.

03 · REAL EXPERIENCES

Ratings come from reviews

Our policy requires genuine reviews from real customers. We do not fabricate reviews or ratings. Ratings combine eligible reviews posted on ReviewMyMover with collected ratings from other review platforms where the moving company is listed.

Review snapshots are summaries of reviews from those platforms. Staff check submissions for source consistency and signs of spam or manipulation; reviews found to be fabricated are removed. Source totals and eligible reviews posted here are weighted by review count, without counting snapshots already included in a source total a second time.

The experiences behind the rating

How do we collect and gather reviews?

Review snapshots capture moving-company reviews from other platforms. ReviewMyMover is dedicated exclusively to the moving industry: moving businesses operating as carriers, brokers, or both. We collect reviews about moving companies and moving services only, including moving-company reviews hosted on general review platforms. We do not collect unrelated business or product reviews. The overall Rating combines collected source rating points and review counts with eligible reviews posted here, weighted by review count. Reviews already represented in a source total are not counted twice. Staff review submitted snapshots for accuracy, source consistency, and signs of spam or manipulation. Rounded source scores make the result approximate; collected totals are dated snapshots, not live feeds.

Our moderation policy is to review all reviews daily. Reviews found to be spam or fake are removed from the platform.

What does “Rating” mean?

It combines the stored review-source snapshots shown on the site with reviews submitted here, weighted by review count. Coverage is limited to the sources collected, and rounded platform scores make some combined figures approximate.

Can I compare companies before reaching out?

Yes. Select Compare on two or three company cards to view their services, locations, ratings, and source information side by side. Heart buttons save companies on your current device.

Do I need to verify my email to leave a review?

No email or SMS verification is required. Choose the company and share your name, rating, move details, and experience. You may also include photos.

Does the budget calculator give me a final price?

The calculator adds the rates and charges you enter. Its sample defaults help illustrate the calculation. Request a written estimate based on your actual inventory, route, and service needs.

How can I report a review?

Use Report review next to a submitted review or sourced snapshot. Your report goes to the site administrator for review. Reporting alone does not automatically remove the content.
